Westhall is situated on the western edge of the Wang watershed with its main axis and four ancient commons aligned along Church Brook. This watercourse rises at about 40 metres along the edge of the Stone Street plateau and descends 20 metres past the parish church to the fen pastures, north of Sotherton Church. Its lands project to the north of Cox's Common taking in the upper tributaries of Redisham Brook which also defines the Hundred Boundary.
